My Favourite Pizzas
We make pizza, at least once a week, with lots of meaty toppings. On this pizza day, my son was visiting and he’s vegetarian, so we settled for pineapple, cheese and capsicum. We really enjoyed it so I wanted to post it and be able to find It, again. Have a lovely week!
Great combination of flavours
Once a year, canned pineapple goes on sale in my local store, here. Last year I bought some fifty cans or so, and I’ve just used the last one today. I’m sure you’re wondering what in the world I did with fifty cans of pineapple tidbits. First of all, I made several of this easy to make Date and Pineapple Loaf. My Kids love it. Then I made several of this Pineapple Banana Loaf. During summer, we drank lots of pineapple smoothies. My most favourite was the Blueberry Pineapple smoothie.
We also make homemade pizza at least once a week, sometimes, twice. Our most favourite is the Thai Chicken Pizza, but we also love this Bacon Pineapple and Sausage pizza. We made it twice last week. So you see, fifty cans of pineapple tidbits is a drop in the ocean. This pizza tastes really nice. I’m glad I finally managed to take photos and post it. Continue reading
My Favourite Pizzas
It was one of those idle days when you pace up and down and wonder what to do next. The weather was cold and grey even though it was supposedly, the middle of “summer.” I decided to watch a random cooking show. I can’t even remember what it was called, because I was bored and restless. The menu for that day was a beef pizza, topped with ground beef, flavoured with mint and bell pepper. I had never flavoured ground beef with mint but it sounded refreshing so I decided to give it a go and here it is.
I quickly made the flatbread crust and soon the beef was simmering away in a pot. The pizza was delicious and I really loved the addition of mint. I can’t describe what it tasted like but it had that fresh minty aroma, lurking away in the background. The best part of the pizza was the topping of fresh lettuce, onions and tomatoes. My Favourite Flatbreads
Bacon, onion and leek are a great combination. Both onion and leek belong to the same genus, Allium, which also includes the scallion, garlic and chives. Allium species are known to produce chemical compounds that give them the characteristic alliaceous or onion and garlic taste and odour, although leeks have a sweeter, more delicate taste, and a firm crunch. They generally have numerous flowers, arranged in special heads called umbels and are usually displayed in flower garden shows.
Leek is popularly used in combination with celery to add flavour to stock (broth) and can also be tied together with other herbs to form bouquet garni. They can also be used raw in salads or used in combination with potatoes and onions to make the popular and thick soup, vichyssoise. Besides bacon, onion, leek and fresh herbs this flatbread, is topped with a creamy mixture of sour cream and egg, which gives it a moist and tasty, mildly tart finish. My Favourite Pizzas
We’ve had very sunny and pleasant weather in the last two days, so I have no complaints, today, just a huge smile on my face. I have often wondered why this pizza is called “Margherita” but after reading, here there and everywhere I don’t seem to be coming across the real reason why it was called as such. So I shall just say pass and continue to share the recipe. I love olives so I added some Kalamata olives as well as some pepper flakes to give it a kick.
The pizza was good. What more can I say? We drizzled some extra virgin olive oil over the top and garnished with some fresh basil leaves and demolished it within a record 15 minutes. How long does it take you to eat a meal? I have a friend who eats for over an hour. I find that way too slow and irritating. I usually just leave her at table and get on with other things. Have a pleasant evening, morning or afternoon depending on where you are.
