I always have a constant supply of bananas in my fruit basket. We eat them, make smoothies, and use them for baking. Sometimes I overbuy bananas, then I have to go on google search to find recipes that call for bananas. I found this recipe on Foot Network and I was sold. The beignets have a crunch on the outside and are fluffy on the inside with a very pleasant banana flavour. Everyone could taste the bananas. There were about 50 of these little things and soon there was nothing left on the plate. I highly recommend them. (please use at least half cake flour to get better results) Continue reading
I had ‘Makhlama‘ for breakfast this morning. Makhlama simply means “Iraqi Eggs in Tomato Sauce”. The main spice in this recipe is turmeric. At first, I was a bit hesitant about adding turmeric to eggs because I had never done that before. Anyway it turned out so well I’m now planning to eat Makhlama at least once a week. Please use fresh ripe tomatoes for this recipe. I can’t imagine what it would taste like if one added some store bought tomatoes. I wonder what your New Year Resolution was. Mine was to eat more veggies and this time I’m pretty serious. I eat vegetarian food at lunch time and become a fully fledged carnivore in the evenings. I had these rolls with my vegetable soup today, for lunch. If you want to know what they tasted like, please make and taste them. They were so tasty, flaky and soft. Almost like a pastry.
