Run a knife lengthwise around the fruit
then twist the two halves to separate them.
Pry out the pit (seed) with the tip of a knife.
And put it aside
Place the halves facing down and peel the skin or use a paring knife or scoop out the flesh with a spoon.
Slice the avocado and use as required.
Once cut or peeled the avocado flesh will discolour. The browning has no effect on the flavour but makes it look unappetizing. Sprinkle the flesh with lime, orange or lemon juice.
Add citrus juice to mashed avocado to prevent darkening of flesh.
