Spicy Green Beans

My Favourite Vegetables

Spicy Green Beans myfavouritepastime.com_4593I hope you had a lovely Halloween, full of laughter, friends, family and candy, of course. And did you realize the mini chocolates are becoming smaller, with rounded edges? Oh yes, a rounded edge means some ounces have been hived off. Everything is becoming smaller these days, but the price remains the same or higher. The big Kellogg’s cornflakes used to be 750g but now it’s 680g and slimmer!

Spicy Green Beans myfavouritepastime.com_4597I spent the whole weekend eating Halloween candy. I am ashamed to say how many calories I ingested, but it was a totally absurd amount. Today evening I had spicy green beans for dinner. No carbs, no proteins, just green beans. Spiced with turmeric and coriander and topped with desiccated coconut and sesame seeds. I enjoyed my calorie reduced dinner and hope you love it too!

  1. I quit buying Halloween candy because no kids come to my door as I live in a condo! And….I do not need the extra calories at my stage of life! Grin!! Interesting way to cook green beans. I might have to try them, but I think I would feel gypped if I didn’t have chunk of meet to go with them. Perhaps a nice mile piece of sole or halibut would even be a nice accompaniment! Still, the beans do look nice. I will try them for sure.

    1. Hi again Sandy,
Somehow my street is full of young families. Most of the kids are below 15. Our neighbourhood is relatively new so they are lots of kids during halloween. I put the few left over lollipops in the cold room. Now I’ve to make sure I don’t linger there lest I chew 2 lollipops in a few minutes. I enjoyed eating the beans after stuffing myself with unhealthy calories. I am now looking forward to fruit cakes…just soaked fruits in rum and sherry. Have a great weekend!

  2. Not sure I could only eat this for a meal. However, it would pair well with a nice steak. 🙂 And you’re completely right about smaller portions, and for the same or higher price. Have a wonderful week ahead, Liz.

    1. Lignum I ate so many calories I needed to balance my life again. Steak is out of the radar for one week! I am having a meatless week.

  3. Green beans are a favorite veggie just about any way I can fix them – your recipe looks good! This year, instead of chocolate, I bought individual bags of Goldfish – the kids loved them. I think they get tired of too much chocolate and welcome something different. I have the same problem if chocolate is around – I do not know when to stop 🙂

My friend gave out play dough instead. How lovely. Next year I’ll think of more practical things to give away. Goldfish seemed like a good alternative. I am sure the kids loved it. Have a fabulous week!
