Quick Stir-Fried Vegetables

With Garlic and Ginger

I love eating vegetables, besides bacon of course and somehow, I always include carrots in my meals. I love carrots, whether raw, cooked or sautéed. Is it because of the orange colour? I love orange,  it signifies enthusiasm, fascination, and happiness and anyway it reminds me of the sun and sunny days are happy days.

According to Wiki, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) reported that world production of carrots and turnips (these plants are combined by the FAO for reporting purposes) for calendar year 2011 was almost 35.658 million tonnes. Almost half were grown in China. Why is China growing so much carrot?

Carrots are great vegetables because they contain more than 80% water, only 7% sugar (the ones we have in my local store are so sweet, I wonder how much sugar content there is), about 0.2% fat and almost no starch (according to Wiki). And anyway, I always have this conviction that eating a lot of carrot will improve my vision in the dark! true or false?  I enjoyed eating the veggies (I didn’t add any bacon) and I hope you enjoy them too!!!

  1. Carrots are addictive. I used to dislike them sauteed in savory dishes but that’s changed now! This recipe has made me hungry…

    1. I adore carrots. I think I eat them at least 5 days a week and I never get tired. I just love sautéed veggies too. Nice to see you after such a long time. Best wishes to you!

    1. I love farmers’ markets. Was there too this morning. Bought some fresh veggies, Zucchini inclusive. Thanks so much for being here. Enjoy your weekend and your veggies!

  2. Ohhh…any other time I would be ALL over this. OMG that looks awesome. But …. whilst the veggies are excellent for me … I have to watch whatever oils and such I take in at the moment…but that really DOES LOOK YUM!

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by. You know how much I always appreciate your presence. As I mentioned today in my post you can steam veggies and still add seasoning, if that is okay for you and they will still taste nice. I wish you a lovely weekend!!!

  3. This is a great stir fry, Liz, and perfectly timed for the Summer harvest about to begin. No need to add a dozen herbs and spices. Let the veggies speak for themselves. I’ll be trying this one, for sure. Thanks, Liz.

    1. Hi John, thanks for stopping by. I haven’t reached Bartolini Kitchens but will be popping there soon to see what’s cooking. Enjoy the rest of the week!

  4. It sounds great. A simple dish but packed with a load of healthy ingredients. I love it.

  5. I have been looking for zucchini for years. I tried to replace it with cucumber (when I was trying some recipes in the past) but it did not turn out good. I guess cucumber is too watery to grill or sautee.

    1. Hey I can’t believe you can’t find Zucchini in Indonesia. I thought it’s grown all over the world. I also made a Zucchini cake which I’m going to post very soon. Cucumber is just great for salads and sandwiches. I always have a long English Cucumber in my fridge and sometimes I just eat it as a snack. Thanks, Harry, for stopping here. Have a wonderful week!!!

      1. Zucchini can be found in some parts of Indonesia.Unfortunately, it is super rare in the province I live in. Cucumber, on the other hand is super cheap. It floods the market everyday.
I’m having a busy week but I still got a little time to do an experiment or two in the kitchen. I’ll try my best to post them a.s.a.p.
I’m gonna save this recipe, just in case I find some zucchinis in the big supermarket. 😀
Have a wonderful week too, Liz!
I’m enjoying Ramadan (even though I’m not a Muslim). It’s practically food bazaar everywhere, everyday.
The date-fruits are everywhere and they are very affordable! 😀

        1. I love dates. They are so sweet and great for snacking. I always have a jar of dates in my kitchen. I also made a date cake, that I shall post very soon. I know what you mean about Ramadan and food bazaars. I have a few Muslim Friends and I know how much they cook during Ramadan. You should make a date loaf. Thanks for checking back on your message. Have a lovely evening.

        2. I’m actually going to bed. LOL
Looking forward to seeing your date cake recipe! 😀
          Have a wonderful week, Liz!!!

        3. Goodnight. It’s three O’clock in the afternoon, I have just had a nice cup of Masala Tea, hot and spicy..thanks!

        4. Ha ha ha
I love Masala Chai. I even wrote a post about it, with a recipe too!
Enjoy your tea and have a lovely afternoon! 😀

    1. Hey girl how are you? Did you enjoy 4th of July celebrations? hope you had a wonderful time. Thanks for stopping over. You know how I always appreciate your presence here. Take care and have a pleasant week!!!

  6. I like the simplicity of a meal like this on a hot summer day. So many nice fresh vegetables and fruits available too. I guess you could also add any precooked meat if you felt you needed it as well? Hope you are having a lovely summer Liz, it was a delight to see your post! I’ve been a little lax myself….much nicer outside!

    1. HI Sandy,
It’s so nice to hear from you after such a long spell because of laziness from my end. Is it laziness or just summer? I bet I would add pre-cooked meat anytime, you know how I love meat!!! I am having a good time and Ottawa was awesome. There were thousands of people during Canada Day celebrations. I wished I could stay there forever. I shall be visiting you sites later on in the day. Thanks so much for your friendship!!!!
