‘Star Ruby’ Grapefruit

A cultivar of grapefruit from South Africa. with a yellow orange rind with a blush of rose.

The flesh is juicy and brilliant ruby red in colour. The red colour is due to presence of lycopene.

The flavour is tangy and tart with an underlying sweetness.

Grapefruit is an excellent source of vitamin C, potassium, and dietary fibre.

‘Star Ruby’  can be eaten as a breakfast fruit or freshly squeezed and drank on a hot summer day.

I bought these ones in my local store here in Canada. It’s probably, also, sold in the US.

Season

Mid June through the beginning of September.
