A punnet is a small light basket or other container for fruit or vegetables. The weight varies from country to country.
Originally, they were a round woodchip basket but nowadays, they are square to rectangular and made of plastic. They can also be made of more sustainable materials like moulded pulp or corrugated cardboard.
A punnet of fresh blueberries, 170g (6oz). They are also sold in 450g (1Ib) containers.
we have all our berries in punnets in Australia, and strangely even punnets of Driscoll’s – I didn’t realise they were a berry multinational!
Most of the commercial fruit companies are multinational. Glad to hear you also have them. How’s Australia? It’s so cold down here….brr. Enjoy your weekend!

thanks Liz! Today is a balmy 21C after a night of rain, but it’s been in the high 30s for most of the last week – looking forward to next week camping at the beach 🙂
Oh boy I can’t wait for spring. We shovelled lots of snow last night. It’s now -16C and such a relief. We had a really cold spell before that. Enjoy the nice weather!

When I see punnet I think of Punnett squares and cross-breeding experiments.
Genetics used to really amaze me when I was introduced to it. Amazing subject

I’ve never heard that word before, although my fridge generally contains several punnets. Interesting, thanks! 🙂
Ha ha. I bet it’s a word used more in the UK? Have a great weekend!
