Turban squash is a cultivar of winter squash that belongs to the species Cucurbita maxima of the family Cucurbitaceae. It’s closely related to buttercup squash.

It’s colour is predominantly orange on one side and mottled green with streaks of white at the “cap” that gave rise to its name, turban squash. It looks like a turban.

The edible flesh is orange, firm and sweet. It’s much more expensive compared to the other squashes like acorn or spaghetti squash.

It’s also frequently used as an ornamental, due to it’s unique and distinct colouring.

Here are cultivars belonging to Cucurbita maxima. Also see other winter squashes.
