Brown Parboiled Rice

Brown parboiled rice (also called brown converted rice) is rice that has been soaked, steamed under pressure and dried, before milling.

After drying, it undergoes the milling process, to remove the husk, but the bran and germ to are left intact.

Parboiled brown rice cooks in fifteen minutes as opposed to the normal brown rice which takes a longer time to cook. The taste is however, different and is a matter of personal choice.

Converted” rice is a term trademarked by the American company Uncle Ben’s for its version of parboiled rice.
